Moll - Isle of Skye
The croft at Moll on the Isle of Skye was home to Mary and Ronnie Muir for much of their life and was visited by my partner and his family over this time. In 2000 I was very privileged to meet Mary and Ronnie and camp on their croft for a couple of weeks - this was my introduction to Skye and a way of life I could never have imagined.
The croft had no electricity or heating other than an open fire burning peat, just 2 small rooms. They kept a few sheep, including a formidable ram, cattle, goats and chicken. Jess the dog and Pooooosy the enormous cat. Washing was done in an outbuilding where the chickens also liked to roostamongst the clothes. It was an idyllic location and Mary and Ronnie were such lovely people. As I write this in 2014, Ronnie died a few years ago and Mary is now in a residential/nursing home in Broadford.
Some of these photos were taken with my first digital camera, a Nikon 950.
